Jaguar Used Cars - The X-Type Review

Jaguar Used Cars
Jaguar used cars like the X-Type were first brought to market in 2002. Jaguar decided it needed to be in the small luxury sedan segment and wanted to increase their overall worldwide sales. Jaguar saw how popular the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class was doing with the public and knew they had to break into this area of the car market. Even thou in 2002 it was Jaguar's bestselling vehicle worldwide, it could never reach Jaguar's excepted goal of selling over 100,000 units a year. In 2007 Jaguar stop making the popular X-type because there wasn't enough demand.

Jaguar X-Type used cars:
Jaguar at the time was owned by the Ford Motor Company and decided that the Jaguar X-Type would be base on the Ford European made Mondeo. This was a very popular midsize car only sold in Europe. Ford thought by basing the X-Type on the Mondeo it could keep costs relatively low. You had two choices of Jaguar X-Type's to choose from. There is a 2.5litre, 192 horsepower V6 engine, or a 3.0litre 227 horsepower engine that also has a V6 engine.
Jaguar's X-Type 2.5litre had two options, either a five-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual option. Jaguar's 3.0litre engine also came in either a five-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual option. Both versions come in all-wheel drive. In 2006 Jaguar stop making the X-type 2.5litre engine and then in 2007 Jaguar decided to scrap the vehicle altogether from its entire line up.

Jaguar used cars like the X-Type seem to have high fuel consumption and this may be caused by the all-wheel drive system. The X-Type has 13 litres for every 100 km for city driving and 8.5 litres for every 100 km for highway driving. It does suggest that the Jaguar X-Type 2.5litre engine gets better fuel economy.

Here are a few things to know before you go out and buy a Jaguar X-Type used.
  • The brakes which use callipers have been known to seize up and this will cause further braking problems, which will affect fuel economy.
  • It's been reported that the alloy rims on the Jaguar X-Type may be damaged through pot holes on the road.
  • There also has been a report that the seat belt in the center rear seat can get stuck.
